Hot chocolate is a favourite drink to sip on during the colder months and this recipe is extremely simple and only takes a few minutes to prepare on the stove.
Make it the best warm Keto winter drink by sweetening it with your favourite keto friendly sweetener.
Bonus points if it is topped with freshly whipped cream and a generous sprinkling of chopped dark chocolate then dusted with cocoa powder.
Dairy-Free Option:
This recipe can easily be made dairy-free by replacing the heavy whipping cream with coconut milk (the thick cream on top of the canned coconut milk) or simply using canned coconut cream. This adds a subtle coconut flavour that complements the chocolate.
Sweetener Substitutions:
If you don't have granulated stevia/erythritol blend on hand, you can use whatever you have. If you do substitute, make sure to adjust the amount as needed to achieve the desired level of sweetness.
"For example, because the sweetener used in this recipe is twice as sweet as sugar, you will need to double the amount if it measures cup for cup like sugar".
Sweeteners that are extremely sweet, such as pure stevia powder or pure monk fruit powder, may not have enough bulk to combine with the cocoa. As a result, the cocoa may solidify into lumps.
